Workshops:
Following on from the initial community views surveys, the next step in creating a plan are workshop events looking at some of the big challenges for the community in the next decade.
On this page, you’ll find the main content on this topic presented at the workshops. Each topic had feedback activities, the feedback form is now closed.
Making Roads Safer
Historically, the Kilmadock parish has been described as being at the crossroads of Scotland.
“The great roads from Edinburgh to Fort William and from Glasgow to Perth pass through this parish, crossing each other at the town of Doune. These roads are far from being in good order, but application is made for making them turnpike.”
The Statistical Account of Scotland, Kilmadock parish (1797)
Scotland’s road network has changed a lot since then, but a lot of traffic still travels through the community to destinations further afield.
In the summer surveys, many people raised that this traffic—and how it is managed—brings safety issues, they’d like to be addressed.
A number of changes have been suggested to make roads safer locally, these have been plotted on the map.
Feedback activity
Assess the different ideas, could they work and/or could they bring any unintended consequences?
