The first full draft of the new Kilmadock Community Plan is complete and the final consultation, a Community Poll is live. Here Neil Fergusson, Development Officer at Kilmadock Development Trust, outlines details of this final stage.
It has been a long time coming, but the draft of the new Kilmadock Community Plan is now complete. My last update in The Bridge, described the process of drafting a plan as stitching together the different threads of what people have told us. The question is, now we have the big picture, what does it look like and have we got it right?
The plan will be used to attract funding, show community support for different proposals and to lobby public sector organisations to take action. To do this it contains an overview of Kilmadock today; ten main goals for the next ten years (below); a local outlook on topics contained in the National Planning Policy of NFP4; and, a number of Community Plan policies. Combined this creates a vision of how Kilmadock can be made a better place to live, work and visit over the next ten years.
Ten main goals (in alphabetical order)
- Bus connection to Dunblane
- Expand our existing path network
- Footbridge over the Teith
- Improve the energy efficiency of our buildings
- New and improved playparks
- Off-street parking in Doune
- New DDYP Youth Hub
- Re-opening Deanston Shop
- Reduce impact of Doune’s through-traffic
- Restoration of our historic village centres
You can view the draft plan at Doune Library, the Information & Heritage Centre or online at www.DouneAndDeanston.com/plan
Before we finalise the plan, we need the community’s help. Based on the contributions we received in the surveys and plan workshops last year, we have drafted over thirty proposals on different topics. We are asking everyone to vote on each proposal: yes, no, or no opinion. Proposals that receive a majority support will be included in the final plan.
It is really vital that you take part in the Community Poll. Funders and other organisations look for strong community backing when deciding to support projects. To put it bluntly, if you want to see any of the main goals happen, you need to take part.
The easiest way to take part in the Community Poll is online. If you’d rather complete it on paper, you can pick a form up from Doune Library or the Information & Heritage Centre. You can also call the Information Centre (01786 841250) and KDT will arrange to deliver one to your home.
The deadline for the poll is the 8th of November 2023, so don’t delay!
