Draft plan: ten goals in ten years
The plan takes a comprehensive outlook of the issues that will affect the community over the next ten years, and puts forward a range of proposals on how they can be addressed locally. Some of these are reactive, addressing problems we currently face. Others are proactive, seeking to address future needs before they become problems. While all the proposals in the plan are important, some hold greater significance. Due to the impact they would have in improving our community, or because it is an area where action is long, long overdue—as one example, the community has been calling for a new footbridge over the River Teith for over twenty years.
We have therefore identified ten main goals that can be delivered in the next ten years. This is ambitious, but they are all absolutely necessary. These should be the initial priority for major action and investment. As with almost all parts of the Community Plan the path to delivery will not always be smooth. It will require partnership working, external investment and a can-do attitude. If done right, the benefits they will deliver will last for generations.
