Workshops:
Following on from the initial community views surveys, the next step in creating a plan are workshop events looking at some of the big challenges for the community in the next decade.
On this page, you’ll find the main content on this topic presented at the workshops. Each topic had feedback activities, the feedback form is now closed.
Future Deanston
In the summer surveys, a number of Deanston specific challenges were raised:
- Improving playparks and greenspaces
- What to do now Deanston Shop is closed
- Getting more activities in the Community Centre
Improving Deanston’s Playparks and Greenspaces
Mapped out below are the first ideas suggested over summer to improve the playparks and greenspaces of Deanston. Click on the shaded areas for more information. At the in person workshops, more suggestions have been made and these will be updated on the map in due course.

Deanston Shop

Earlier this year, the only shop in Deanston village (and its Post Office) closed.
The nearest shop at the petrol station, is at least a 15 minute walk (each way).
This is a hear-and-now issue, as well as a future one.
Today, there is a lack of service provision for Deanston that needs addressed—not just for groceries but Post Office services and pharmacy deliveries.
But there is also an empty shop unit (owned by Stirling Council). In 10 years time do we want it to still be empty?
Community operation of the shop was looked at when its closure was confirmed, and was not financially viable.
