In recent times, it has been difficult to feel certainty about what will happen tomorrow, never mind in a decade’s time. But while many things will remain, the future of our community will be different to today. Look back 500 years and there was no bridge over the Teith. A hundred years ago there was a railway through Doune. Closer to today, ten years ago there wasn’t a community centre in Deanston, and Doune was still waiting for a new health centre.
It was also ten years ago when the last community action plan was put together. Since then, there have been many improvements and the community has also grown by nearly 500 people.
As we embark on creating a new plan, there have been a couple of requests to look back at previous plans. Below are links to plans (or other community planning related exercises) from 1992, 2000, 2003 and 2013 to look back on.
- 1992, The Doune & Deanston Survey Report (Kilmadock Community Council)
- 2000, First Annual Report (Doune & Deanston Community Futures*)
- 2003, Strategy (Kilmadock Development Trust)
- 2013, Kilmadock Community Action Plan (Kilmadock Development Trust & Kilmadock Community Council)
*Doune & Deanston Community Futures was the forerunner to Kilmadock Development Trust, which was set up in August 2000
