This is a message from the Stirling Council Access and Sustainable Travel Officer about the old railway line, which is to be resurfaced during 24-30 June over a short length where tree roots have made it difficult for walkers and cyclists – they say about 1Km from Doune (towards Dunblane) but it will be just beyond the ends of the railway cutting and most people will recognise the root-affected bits.
“We will commence surface repair works on NCN 765 starting Monday, the 24th of June. The location is approximately 1 kilometre from Doune. We will focus on a small 111-meter section of the route and expect to complete the work by the 30th of June. This work is necessary to fix damage to the cycleway caused by root heave. Additionally, the contractor will install root protection fabric to prevent further damage to the same section of the route. The repair has been made possible from grant funding from The Active Travel Transformation Fund.
The route will remain open during the works, with a signed diversion in place. There will also be banks men on site to ensure safe passage past the works.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to get in touch with me. We hope these improvements meet with your approval.”
