Doune & Deanston's Outdoor Gyms

Keep fit and build muscle strength for free in the fresh air

In April 2023, our Outdoor Gyms opened in Doune’s Moray Park and at Deanston’s Community Centre. This page outlines what equipment is where and advice on how they can be used to exercise outdoors.

Before you start…

The equipment, manufactured by Proludic, is designed for those aged 14 and over, and is used at individual’s own risk and responsibility.

Don’t over do it!

Know your own body’s limits. Before starting a new form of physical exercise, NHS Scotland recommends seeking suitable professional advice. Follow this link for information on keeping active from NHS Inform.

Warm up and cool downs!

Warming up and cooling down is important to reduce the risk of injury and support blood and oxygen flow to the muscles.

Watch the video for some warm up tips.

Proludic Sport app

The free Proludic Sports app is available for iPhone and Android smartphones. The app includes instructions on how to use the equipment and the ability to follow and track workouts.

The outdoor gyms are a combination of aerobic and strength equipment. Aerobic equipment increases the heart rate and in turn oxygen flow, often benefiting flexibility. Strength equipment helps build muscle.

Below is the kit list, with tags showing where it is available and the main features of the equipment.

Equipment that is good to include as part of a warm up or cool down.

Equipment that is gentler and will put less stress on joints and muscles.

Equipment where the resistance level can be adjusted to suit an individual, equivalent to a specific weight.

You’ll also find a note of the main muscle groups that each piece of equipment engages when using.
