Staying for a few Days?

These itineraries and ideas should help you to make good use of your time in our lovely area.

Start by exploring Doune and Deanston, not forgetting Doune Ponds.  Have a stroll down our interesting Main Street and perhaps do a bit of shopping.  Then  try one or more of  our Local Walks

 Historic Stirling

  • Stirling Castle,
  • Lunch at one of the many restaurants
  • Wander through the centre or indulge in a little shopping.
  • If time allows, drive to the Wallace Monument

  • Visit the Scottish National Trust’s award-winning Battle of Bannockburn Visitor Centre
  • experience the battle 0f 1314
  • eat at the cafe
  • investigate the shop

Loch Lomond National Park

 

Explore the Glorious Trossachs

Drive north up the A84 to picturesque Callander.

On north to Kilmahog, left along Loch Venacher and through the stunning Trossachs to Aberfoyle.

Either return to Doune via the Lake of Mentith (yes lake!) or drive on south towards beautiful Loch Lomond.

Picturesque Loch Katrine

Buy food for a picnic at Simply Sara’s or the Buttercup Cafe (both in Doune Main Street).

Book a cruise on beautiful Loch Katrine, or just walk and enjoy the scenery .

  • Visit Harvey’s Mapmaker in Doune Main Street and find out all about walking in this area – maybe buy some maps
  • Climb Ben Ledi (879m)  or Ben A’an (454m)
