This is notification from BEAR Scotland of our intention to close the A84 Bridge of Teith at Doune, overnight on the weekend of the 8th / 9th / 10th July between 10pm and 6am.

The Bridge of Teith is the oldest structure on the NW network and these repairs are essential to sustain the long-term utilisation of this crossing.

The closure is required to enable the placement of rock-bags around the central pier of the bridge to repair damage caused by scour.  This will be performed by a crane, lowering the rock-bags from the bridge deck into the watercourse.

We are programming this over 3 consecutive nights, to minimise disruption. We will allow for amnesties every 2 hours, for vehicles to pass, as required.  The crane is mobile and can be moved to allow emergency vehicles access to cross.

The closure forms part of a longer 3-month program of works, starting 23rd May,  which will include traffic management over the bridge, to repair a training wall and provide drainage.

This traffic management will consist of 3-way lights but should not affect traffic over the bridge.
