For those that are looking to keep fit (without having to travel somewhere) Doune and Deanston has a number of choices… whether that is a sport, home workout, exercise classes or a walk, run or cycle outside. Another option that could be added to that list is outdoor gym equipment, which has been growing in popularity in recent years.

The Kilmadock Development Trust is partnering with the community council and Community Action for Deanston to work out (excuse the pun) how to deliver outdoor gym equipment in the villages. But we can’t do it alone. We’ll need the support of funders for investment and Stirling Council to agree sites and ongoing maintenance. To get the support of both, we have to show strong backing from the community.

If you would like to see outdoor gym equipment in Doune and Deanston we need you to show your support by completing a short survey. The survey asks about how you might already exercise, if you are likely to use an outdoor gym, and the types of equipment we can choose from.

A number of different pieces of outdoor gym equipment on grass in a public park with trees in the distance.

If you want to see or try an outdoor gym, the nearest is at Laigh Hills in Dunblane. In Stirling there are outdoor gyms at Kings Park, Beechwood Park, Braehead Park and Thistle Park.
