Timber harvesting to clear the windblown trees in the Wood of Doune caused by Storm Arwen will begin next week. We will initially be concentrating on the area around the Brig o Teith. Timber will need to be cleared from within the wood to allow access to the area around the Brig o Teith and the bank above the A84, adjacent to the Old Kilmadock Manse. This work will involve large machinery (timber harvester and forwarder) as well as skilled tree climbers and a mobile platform for the large trees on the bank above the A84. It is our intention to remove all the large trees in this area. This will also require traffic control to allow it to be done safely, and this is currently planned for the week of 28th February, for one full working week.
We would ask that if you are in the vicinity that you follow any instructions given to you by workers on site, and we would recommend that you might wish to consider alternative access areas for the duration of the works. We apologise for any inconvenience that these works may cause and we hope you will understand that while we are trying to get these works done as quickly as possible, it is imperative that we do them safely.
Further updates will be provided on other windblown areas in due course and we would like to express our gratitude to the community for the support that you have given Moray Estates so far in the very significant task of clearing up after Storm Arwen.
